Classroom Non-Negotiables

All rooms should be ready and set up as a positive environment for learning-print rich materials are in the room, a definitive areas set for guided reading is evident, bulletin boards are complete with current information, and anchor charts are posted relating to current instruction rather than items decorating the room.

Here are some examples of the Non-Negotiables posted in Lyon Academy classrooms!

1. SLPS Literacy Model charts are posted in a prominent place in the room.

2. Student work should be posted with constructive feedback- more than just "good" or "great work."

3. Scoring guides are to be given to students at the time an assignment is given and posted on the bulletin board with their work.

4. Objectives are posted and should match the learning targets (BBC).

5. Objectives should be restated throughout the lesson.

6. Word Walls are posted and reinforced.

7. Classroom desk arrangements should be conducive to cooperative learning and student centered lessons.

8. Anchor Charts should be posted in the classroom.

9. Lesson Plans are to be completed and posted.

Take a look at these other great classroom ideas!
